PURE OF HEART
A ghost child left to die in a French forest, Contesse Blanchefort buries the horrors of her past when a Bourgeoisie Revolutionary rescues and adopts her. Ten years later, her Papa dies at the Bastille, and Contesse's grim memories reemerge. Seeking her roots, she embarks on a quest across the English countryside, guided by a mysterious pagan woman and a rogue Gypsy. But when Contesse falls ill in London, her companions are forced to seek medical help.
When the strange Gypsy bursts into his apothecary looking to help his sick ward, physician’s apprentice Eric McEwan suspects trouble. Against his better judgment, he follows the man...only to discover the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. As Eric nurses Contesse back to health, passion blooms, and the two discover their love for one another—with disastrous consequences.
Expelled from Cambridge, Eric must battle his domineering grandfather’s wrath while Contesse struggles to free herself from her nightmares. Without one another, they’re lost...but love is strong...can they vanquish their pasts to find one another again?

Read some reviews from the first edition!
From Dixie Lee Brown: "Ms. Jourdain has written a complex historical novel complete with romance as well as a number of diverse and fun characters. Her knowledge of the history of the period is clearly accurate and in-depth. The author deals with difficult subjects such as albinism and the cultural prejudice against Gypsies in a way that is informative and made me a huge fan of the "rogue Gypsy" who becomes the heroine's guide. Contesse is a sweet, naive young woman, and in her Ms. Jourdain has crafted a woman who very much fits the time in which she lives. Our hero has problems of his own and must work hard to overcome them. I found myself rooting for their HEA, and now I'm waiting for the "rogue Gypsy's story!"
From Chele on Goodreads.com: "Pure of Heart is a wonderful book.
Strong characters, intrigue, revolutions first love, acceptance and revelations. French, English ,Romani, and Druids all, come together one way or another in unraveling Contesse past.
Join Contesse as she goes on an adventure to recover her forgotten and traumatic past.
Her adoptive Papa, has set in motion a journey of discovery filled with many people who will help her on her way.
Her 'Papa' Edouard,Hélène,Jacques, Madame Claire, Talon, Dr. Radford, and most importantly Eric.
I look forward to more by this Author.

Love this Book! August 14, 2015
This book is a beautiful love story. I love how the characters come to life! It was a book that kept me wanting more, and was difficult to out down! The history that was included was very helpful, as I'm not very knowledgable in the area of history. I loved how the author would end the chapters with you hanging, and wanting to know what happens next. Very easy read, that kept my attention thriugh the whole book. Loved the story line, and the characters, can't wait for more from Auria Jourdain!

Enjoyable read - historical romance April 13, 2015
I thoroughly enjoyed Pure of Heart. The author's knowledge (and love) of the French Revolutionary time period and history is evident throughout the novel. I am not educated in that time period and found it very interesting! As a social worker, I followed the social lines very closely in this novel and could relate to many of the author's depictions. I liked how the characters grew, particularly Contesse, watching her open up to life, romance and love. I liked how the novel ended - allowing suspense in the continuing story of Contesse's background and history but not leaving a huge cliffhanger that frustrates the reader. Good read!
